MACMILLAN Cancer Support staff have broken the record for most number of cups of tea made in an hour and most number of hot dogs made in a minute during McKinstry Skip Hire Ulster Grand Prix Bike Week.

The attempts were the brainchild of Geoff Wilson, to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support in memory of his father Jimmy who was a prominent organiser of the UGP before he died of cancer last year.

The team made 10 hotdogs in a minute - the former record, held by Freddie Flintoff, was nine.

They also made 784 cups of tea in an hour, to beat the existing record of 725.

WHATEVER the occasion, everyone loves a cup of their favorite brew accompanied by a sweet little treat on the side.

With this in mind, Northern Ireland Hospice is encouraging as many individuals, businesses and organisations in the local community to 'take a break' in aid of the local charity by hosting a coffee party, as part of Ireland's Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice.

Taking part could not be easier and everyone who registers a coffee party will receive everything they need to host the perfect party including a free supply of Bewley 's coffee.

Ireland Biggest Coffee Morning for Hospice will be held on Thursday 20th September, but if this date doesn't suit you can hold your coffee party any time in September or October. To register a coffee event in aid of Northern Ireland Hospice and receive your fundraising pack simply call the Coffee Morning hotline on 028 9077 7123 or log on to www.nihospice.org.
