CAROLINE Boyd, Consultant with the Slimming World Group that meets at Lisburn Racquets Club, decided that her group could do more than shed pounds - they could raise pounds too and help people living with multiple sclerosis.

So in partnership with Action MS, Caroline is holding a sponsored walk at Hillsborough Forest Park on Saturday September 24 at 10am called the Magic Wander and led by TV and Radio Presenter and Producer, John Daly, patron of Action MS Northern Ireland.

Said Caroline: "I am so proud of our members who readily accepted the challenge to raise money for this worthy charity, working with so many people in our community. Word soon spread to our other groups and I have already been approached by the leaders of the groups at Hillsborough, Banbridge Hockey Club and Laurelhill Community College. Their members are just as keen to get involved. But the Magic Wander sponsored walk is not just for Slimming World members - everyone is welcome."

All proceeds from the Walk will be spent in the community providing practical help and support to people living with MS, their families and carers.

Ann Walker, Chief Executive of Action MS thanked Caroline for setting up the Magic Wander and both her members and the leaders and members of the other groups for enthusiastically taking up the challenge.

"We simply could not offer any of our services without public support as we receive no government or statutory funding" Ann said. "Yet many people living with MS have complex needs and their quality of life depends upon these being met sensitively and professionally."
