THE Sale of scarves in a Hillsborough store has raised money for the Hematology and Oncology MacDermott Unit at the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald.

Mimi Gorman of Trio gift shop and the Cheshire Cat toy shop presented a cheque for £100 to Ward Manager Caitlin McCoy at the Unit. Mimi was treated at the unit six years ago and wanted to make a donation from the sale of the Fairtrade cotton scarves sold in Trio. She said: "I know from experience how important comfortable and secure headgear is when hair loss occurs and I wore these scarves when I lost my hair in 2005.

We donate £1 from the sale of each scarf to a local cancer charity and a previous donation was given to Marie Curie Cancer Care."

Ward Manager Caitlin McCoy says the donation will be used to purchase equipment and items for patient comfort such as comfortable chairs, heated blankets and syringe drivers.

Trio continues to stock the scarves, hoping to make the next donation soon.
