MEMBERS of staff from the Housing Executive's office in Lisburn have provided items of food and clothing for those people who make use of the Welcome Centre in Belfast.

The Welcome Centre caters for homeless people, rough sleepers or people who live alone. It delivers a caring service for men and women from all over Belfast and all religious denominations. The items were donated by staff working in the District Office, and the Accounts and Housing Benefit Sections, and will go some way to help make the Christmas period more enjoyable for those people who use the Welcome Centre.

Sandra Moore, the Welcome Organisation's Director of Homelessness Services said, "I wish to express sincere thanks to the Housing Executive staff in Lisburn for helping us. Dozens of homeless people will have a happier Christmas this year, thanks to their generosity.

"At the Welcome Organisation we have huge admiration for people who have turned compassion for those who are homeless into practical support for changing those lives. We will all feel the impact of the global economic downturn but nobody more acutely than those already living on the edge.

"During these difficult and uncertain times we are mindful this Christmas that we could not continue to deliver our services without the goodwill and help of so many. Thank you for helping us to bring hope this Christmas."
