A recent Laganview Fun Day.

ONE year ago Old Warren celebrated the official opening of LaganView Enterprise Centre.

It was the culmination of 14 years of intensive work by Old Warren community development volunteers and many years of fundraising and lobbying.

Over this past year the centre has become the focal point for the local community. Weekly events range from art classes, social evenings for the elderly, birthday parties, mother and toddlers' mornings, youth workshops, keep fit classes and much more.

Recently the Women's Committee held a fashion show to raise money for training costs. This was a huge success and undoubtedly would have been impossible without the centre facilities.

The centre has also hosted a number of ethnic minority events, including Bulgarian Association events and the Kerala Association are now regular users of the centre for both their Indian community events and more personal celebrations.

LaganView Enterprise Centre would like to thank all the funders including International Fund for Ireland, Lisburn City Council, Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive for all their help and support in bringing the centre to fruition. Thanks should also be given to The Ashton Centre, Cloona Oasis, Creggan Enterprises and Lisburn Enterprise Organisation for their ongoing support.

Business Manager, Joanne Mackey, said: "We weren't taken back with the great success of the centre initially but what surprised us and surpassed all our expectations was the speed of this success. However, we have not become complacent and we look forward to the year ahead and the challenges it will bring."

As a celebration of its first year anniversary, LaganView Enterprise Centre is welcoming all new clients to view the - centre and its facilities. For further information contact Joanne on 9267 0055 or email laganview@btconnect.com.
