TWO community minded businesses in Moira have teamed up with their local youth club to help the club raise funds for a much needed minibus.

Simone and Jennifer from Escapades Hairdressers and Karalyn Warke from Karan Francis Health and Beauty Clinic teamed up in their bid to help the local Logic Cafe Youth Club, by offering their services free of charge on the morning of February 2 with all donations going towards the Mini Bus appeal.

Matt Peach, Logic Cafe Development Officer, said: "I'm absolutely delighted by their kindness and generosity and I would like to thank the girls for their support. It's so encouraging to see local Moira businesses willing to invest in the lives of young people from the community."

The Logic Cafe, an initiative of St John's Parish Church, has been running for the last ten years. It provides young people with a host of activities from general 'drop in' type evenings to cheerleading, midnight football, the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, trips away, residentials, holiday activity schemes and even a community vegetable garden.

Ruth Wells, Assistant Youth Worker, added: "The generosity of people has been exceptional — with donations, a clothes collection and sponsored events we have managed to raise over £5,000 since the start of January. We still have a long way to go but are well on our way."
