History of Largymore Royal Black District No 9

Largymore District Chapter No 9 was formed in 1878. Four Preceptories made up the District at that time, they were: Largymore Star of the North RBP 198 encamped at Lisburn - its warrant was issued in 1873; RBP 244 encamped at Broomhedge - its warrant was not issued until 1908 (records in Brownlow House list the first return, like RBP 198, also in June 1873); Hillhall Golden Star RBP 386, encamped at Hillhall - its warrant was issued 1875 (sadly the Preceptory folded around 1899); and Downshire Golden Lights RBP 423, encamped at Hillsborough - the warrant was first issued in 1877.

Prior to the formation of Largymore District all these Preceptories belonged to Ballynahinch District No 5.
