Anahilt
In 1939 a new school was opened on the present site and the school
became known as Anahilt Public Elementary School. Eventually the
school was 'transferred' to the control of the County Down Education
Committee, subsequently the South Eastern Education and Library
Board.
It was renamed Anahilt Primary School in 1957 when Lisnagarvey
Intermediate School opened in Lisburn and the boys aged 11 - 14
years went there. A year later Fort Hill Intermediate opened for
girls from 11 - 14 years. When the Education Authority took over the
expenses of the school the Endowment was free to be spent on the
school. To this day the school still receives the interest from the
Endowment |
