THERE was a special get together for one local couple this week as they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Wednesday.

Sally and George Orr were joined at their home in Lisburn by family and close friends on Friday, March 14 for a party to mark the special occasion. The couple were married in Christ Church, Lisburn on March 19, 1958 and were delighted to reach 50 years together.

The pair first met on a train coming home from a dance in Belfast and when George, who was from Derriaghy, first laid eyes on Lisburn girl Sally, he knew she was the girl he wanted to marry.

Unfortunately George didn't have the courage to speak to Sally, but the couple soon found each other at a dance in Braniel Hall.

The couple have two children, David and Stephen, and three grandchildren.
