TWO Wallace High school students have been placed in the top five candidates in the UK in recent examinations.

At A Level, 18 year old Andrew Lucas was in the top five in his Design and Technology examination.

Andrew, who also achieved A grades in his Maths and Physics A Levels, is heading off to Bristol to read Computer Systems Engineering and is looking forward to experiencing life away from home.

He said: "I'm sure I'll miss home but I am looking forward to the independence university life will bring."

At GCSE level, Mark Belshaw was one of the top UK candidates in French, with over 100,000 people sitting the exam. The 16 year old gained an impressive 9 A Star grades.

"I visited France for the first time this summer and enjoyed putting my language skills into practice."

Mark has just commenced AS levels in Government and Politics, History, Biology and Chemistry at Wallace.

"I hope to study Law at university and I'd love to become a barrister. Even though I haven't chosen to study French at AS Level, my teacher Miss Brown has arranged for me to continue conversation classes with the Assistant as I really want to continue to develop my Language skills."
