At the launch of the parenting course '21st Century Parent: The Course' in the Mayor's Parlour, Lagan Valley Island, Lisburn, last Wednesday morning (17th September) are Lisburn Mayor Councillor Ronnie Crawford (seated) and L to R: Mrs Jean Gibson (Care for the Family), Rev Brian Gibson (Railway Street Presbyterian Church), Rev Brian Anderson (Seymour Street Methodist Church), Pastor George Hilary (Lisburn Christian Fellowship), Canon Sam Wright (Lisburn Cathedral), Rev John Brackenridge (First Lisburn Presbyterian Church) and Rev Paul Dundas (Christ Church Parish).  Missing from the photo are Father Dermot McCaughan, P.P. (St Patrick's Church) and David Mitchell (Lisburn City Council's Good Relations Officer).

'21st Century Parent: The Course' will be held in Lisburn Civic Centre starting Monday 29th September 2008 at 8.00pm. Organised by Lisburn City Centre Churches in conjunction with Lisburn City Council's Good Relations Programme, the 8 sessions will give you valuable and practical insights which will help you get through the tricky job of being a parent in the 21st century. Featuring the wit and wisdom of best selling author and International speaker Rob Parsons, the 8 sessions will explore some of the big issues you may face as a parent right now.

Led by Jean Gibson and Helen Davis of Lisburn's Care for the Family, the topics each evening are:

  • Monday 29th September: You're not alone

  • Monday 6th October: The gifts of acceptance

  • Monday 13th October: The testing child

  • Monday 20th October: A mother looks back

  • Monday 3rd November: Building a sense of value

  • Monday 10th November: Defending the boundaries

  • Monday 17th November: Teenagers!

  • Monday 24th November: Do what you can
