Beth Cheney from First Rathfriland Presbyterian Church was the
guest speaker last Thursday evening (19 April) at the last
Railway Street PWA meeting of the 2006-2007 session. Beth gave
an interesting demonstration of painting on stone using the
contours of the stone to form landscapes. Most of the scenes
Beth paints are of the Mourne Mountains and during the evening
she also displayed some of her canvas paintings of the Mournes.
The new office-bearers for the 2007-8 session are Elma Lindsay -
President, Phyllis Spence - Vice-President, Anna Toombs -
Secretary and Jean Murray will continue as Treasurer. Three new
members were elected to the PWA Committee to replace those who
have completed their 3-year term. The newly-elected members are
- Barbara Bailie, Elizabeth Bridgett and Margaret Power who will
join existing committee members Moya McLean, Winifred Cameron,
Joan Kane, Norma Coggins (PWA Link President) and Liz Menown (PWA
Link representative).
A summer outing to the Isle of Doagh on Saturday 12th May with
evening tea in Wellington Street Presbyterian Church in
Ballymena will bring another busy year for the Railway Street
branch of the PWA to a successful conclusion.
