New parish readers are commissioned at St. Mark's

Canon George Irwin, Rector of Ballymacash and Warden of Readers for the Diocese of Conor with Mrs. Myrtle McKay, Mr. Jim Walker, Mrs. Janet Spence, Mrs. Edith Quirey, Rector of St. Stephen and St. Luke, Belfast, Mr. Richard Taylor. Miss Nicola Dickson, Rev. David Boyland, Rector of Kilmakee. Miss Margarita Johnston and Canon Gregory Dunstan, Rector of St. Matthews, Belfast and Tutor of Readers Training Course.

SIX candidates were commissioned as parish readers at a special service in St. Mark's Church, Ballymacash recently.

The Commissioning was carried out on behalf of ,the Bishop of Connor by the Warden of Readers the Rector of St. Mark's Rev. George Irwin.

Valuable

The preacher was Canon Gregory Dunstan, Rector of St. Matthews on Belfast's Woodvale Road.

The prayers of intercession were led by Rector of Kilmakee Rev. David Boyland. The candidates were: Mrs. Myrtle McKay (St. Matthews), Mrs. Janet Spence and Miss Nicola Dickson (St. Stephen and St. Luke, Belfast), Miss Margarita Johnston, St. Hilda's, Kilmakee and Mr. Jim Walker and Mr. Richard Taylor from St. Marks.

Parish Readers provide valuable assistance within their home parishes in sharing the conduct of a wide variety of services and administering the Chalice at Holy Communion.
