Derriaghy Parish of St Colman's and St Patrick's held a 'Parish
Family Fun Day' in St Colman's Parish grounds last Saturday
afternoon (23rd June). Organised by Derriaghy Parish Social
Committee, the fun packed programme included: children's fancy
dress, BBQ, teas and coffees, cakes and buns sale, face painting
and tattoos, tombola and side shows. Brendan McDonagh and Jim
McCorry (The Lodgers) and a group of young musicians from the
parish provided live music. The highlight of the day was
undoubtedly the 'Mr and Mrs Contest' compered by Michael Rooney
and assisted by Lorna Boyle. The contestants were Willie and
Myra Brown; Micheal and Orla Hamill; Gerard and Fiona Kane; and
last but by no means least - John Steen and his unlikely wife
Johnny Boyle.
