A service was held in Belfast Bible College last Friday evening (3rd November) for the Induction of Trevor Lennon to the Pastorate of Lambeg Baptist Church. Mr Lennon will replace the previous Pastor, Jim Murdock, who took up another position in June 2004.

Stuart McDowall welcomed the large congregation, visitors and guests and gave the history of the call to the new Pastor. In his response, the new Pastor, Trevor Lennon outlined the reasons why he felt he should take up the position of Pastor of Lambeg Baptist Church and assured the fellowship of his commitment to them.

A group of musicians and vocalists from the congregation led the praise; the hymns were How deep the Fathers love for us, The splendour of the King, In Christ alone, Come Lord Jesus and To God be the Glory. Readings were by Professor Eric McAdams (Whitehead Baptist Church) and the new Pastors daughter, Poppy Lennon. Pastor Stephen Garrett (Whitehead) and John Watters (Lambeg) led the prayers. Pastor Dr Hamilton Moore, Principal of the Irish Baptist College where Trevor Lennon undertook his studies, led the prayer of Induction.

Pastor Mike Ewan brought the greetings of Whitehead Baptist Church, while and Pastor William Colville brought the greetings of the Association of Baptist Churches in Ireland. In his lively address, Pastor Trevor Ramsey (Greenisland) spoke from 1 Thessalonians 5: 13-18 and encouraged the congregation to appreciate their leaders; to treat the Church like a family; and to grow a spiritual attitude.

Light refreshments were served after the service.
